So long to a great friend to all of us on the Md. Militia power team. Not too many of you knew Don George but he was a great friend and a great training partner for a long time to the team down here. He was a physically gifted strong and wide dude that just seemed to get huge with very little effort, great genetics. Don was apparently going home last Saturday night, early Sunday morning, fell asleep at the wheel and was killed when he struck a tree about a mile from my house. Teri got the news right away and Lenny called me up to tell me that it happened. I was happy when he called and thought it was to see how the IPA Nats went. I had just left ten minutes earlier when he called and I started telling him all the cool things that happened. He let me finish and gave me the news. Lenny is a strong man and I could tell he was very sad. Teri and Don have been best friends for a long time. We all feel terrible for his family and Teri has extended all of us to them for anything that they may need.
It’s tough to say the least to let Don go, it hasn’t really sunk in yet and I’m sure everyone has had a lot of tears thinking about all of the good memories. He was the kind of guy that was never too busy to drop whatever he was doing to come and help you when you’d call him. That’s not just from personal experience, I’ve seen him go out of his way many times for most of us. He was a great guy with a great heart and a sense of humor like the rest of us hahaha.
Look, I need you guys to think back for me and think of a time when I have ever asked any favors from anybody. I help everyone for nothing more than friendship and I like it that way. I need a big one now……I set up a Pay Pal account under

. It is just to try to help his family out a little with expenses. They of course have no idea I’m doing it and I haven’t even ever met them. So if you guys want to do a nice thing and put a couple of bucks to them on your cards I will pass it along with your names. Please guys, anything. It will only take five minutes and you can imagine how it will touch his family. Thanks. Just let me know what I can do for you.
I’ll keep adding pictures to this article as long as people send them in. I think it will be a cool thing for a while.
Thanks from, Teri, Lenny, Jules, Brian, Jimmy, Darren, Chris, Dave, Jason, Kenny, Little Kenny, Chad, and me.
God Speed Donnie we’re gonna miss ya real, real bad……………

I Was involved in a high speed car accident a few weeks ago coming home from work in the company's ranger. I was hit and forced off the road and into a parked truck. Nobody was too seriously injured but I sustained a 100% tear and detatchment of his RIGHT tricep. I underwent surgery last wednesday and was able to smuggle a camera into the O.R.. I then asked the doctor if one of the nurses with the sickest sense of humor would take some pics through the surgery. The doctor has been very good to me from the begining and didn't let me down once again. Dr. Bryan Klepper did the surgury and I was immediately relieved of the greater percentage of the pain right out of surgery. That was one of the most painfull injuries ever, barring the couple of ACL ruptures in my knees. The arm has to be in a cast for 6-8 weeks and I can't even drive for 2 weeks, doctor's order's. I'm sure the rehab is going to be long and painfull. The Doc says I will out of the game for good but I cant see that. This makes the ELEVENTH SURGERY/PROCEDURE to date. It never really slowed me down before............ Maybe........... but I doubt it. Enjoy the pictures They are rare to see. Dr Klepper said "Nobody has ever requested that before" and the nurse Cathy (I think) said "you're a sick man" hahaha. You can send flowers and beef jerky to 531 Nottingham rd. Elkton Md. 21921. I'll be out of work for a while. Here's the pics
Thanks and see ya's in the gym,
Jeff

I had the chance today to attend Broderick Chavez and Kate Baird's APF Delaware meet for the third time today. Each time I come out I try to get involved helping out a little more. Broderick is a cool guy, very funny and a short fuck like me. Built like a brick shit house. He has a lot of help at the meet and it is attended by quite a few very attractive women that are either competing or train there. The meet is held in Jack Osbourne's Gym in New Castle Delaware. Jack is one of the coolest gym owners I have met. He promotes both the bodybuilding and powerlifting training techniques and caters to both as well. His gym has a monolift of course and a nice room to hit it hard as well as a ton of nice equipment to get an all around body build. “THE TRAINING CENTER” Is the name of the place and they enjoy the company as some of the big guys in powerlifting as well as a few pro bodybuilders that train there regularly. Many people from all around the area have stopped in to get a pump or hit the monolift for the last few weeks before the meets. Nice place, I like it.

Now that 7 weeks has gone by I figure I can let everyone in on what happened a little while back and why I wasn’t in Carp’s meet like I was supposed to. I always got an enormous amount of support from all of you when things have gone bad in the past. In comparison to the last couple of years of serious injury and health problems. This was a minor setback to the old man.

This weekend was nothing short of some consistent huge lifting, talent and shit loads of laughing. Bill Carpenter and legendary bench press specialist Kenny Patterson have put together the U.P.A. along with some hand picked people and have put the label on the already well known meet that Bill has so many times put on. This was once again a meet jammed packed with most of the big names in benching. It just gets better and better. You Men and Women know I like to bull shit and love to pull some pranks but all of you know that I never lead you down the wrong path. When it comes to lifting, coaching, supplements, etc. I always drop the bomb on everyone strait up and never waste anyone’s time. With that said I’ve got to tell you with the sincerity of a .45 between the eyes. This meet is a MUST ATTEND. The meet is smooth, professional, fast, friendly and has all the electricity of the Arnold. This is and was a meet where you can enjoy some of the big names in powerlifting/ benching in a much less crowded atmosphere. Shaking hands with all your buddy’s and big names without having to beat your way through 10,000 bastard strangers walking around with plastic bags of free shit. Bill’s meet isn’t about free shit. The place is as big and nice as the exhibition hall we use for the powerlifting show at the Arnold and is in NO WAY crowded. If you can’t tell, I am trying to change that. If you ever wanted to be close and in a personal atmosphere with some of the biggest hero’s in the sport, this is the place to be. Nice hotels, good food, and southern hospitality even in the mid west. A real kick ass place to watch some freaky shit go down, get some pictures with your hero’s, and bring some pictures to get autographed. I don’t know a single one of these great people that wouldn’t be happy to sign whatever you have. Hats off to Bill’s family, Kenny, all the spotters, loaders, judges and table people for putting on the Ritz.

Congratulations to Rob Luyando and Ryan Kennelly for winning the BIG $5000 a piece at the Scot Mendelson Classic. The meet was great but had it's problems like any that follow other shows and events in a time slot. Especially a figure comp in the same warm up room...WHEW!!! Scot had plenty of help, and paid the boys at the end of the show. (You'd think that's how it would be everywhere huh? But it ain't....) Scot bombed with three attempts at 1015. his first and last looking real close. The crowd was rooting for him to get that last inch and get the rack call but it didn't happen. I have seen a few vids of Scot lift and saw a different lifter this time around. Usually he is a hit or miss bencher in my opinion. But He muscled it up another 2 inches after the shirt quit and the crowd was goin nuts. Just short though and for a record between he and Gene Rychlak, The lift and the call had to be definite. I think the rivalry between Scot and Gene does nothing but positive things for the sport. They are both good to me and sometimes its funny to be in the middle of the two baddest asses on the planet haha.

Well he did it ladies and gentlemen! McVicar hit 705 over the weekend and I'm told The workmans Comp people ( specifically I.W.I.F.) didnt like it. "They figure that benching is bad for your thoasic spine.......man" Benching by nature is probably the ONLY thing you can do with a bad back. Get educated people!! All Stress aside , after a full year of back, neck , lying around due to an injury at work Jeff has waited all year for this and in 4 short weeks of training he pulls it off. Good for you Jeff! There will no doubt more to see of him this year!! Special thanks to APF Iowa for the clip!
